Wilderness Cake Smash | Happy First Birthday Zeke
Time sure flies when you’re having fun. Also when you’re juggling four small(ish) humans, homeschooling and running a business… Time sure seems to just leave when you need it most. I’m still in shock it’s already been a year with Zeke, and I was thrilled to have his Wilderness Cake Smash at Farms & Fairytales!
A whole year with you
You may remember, Zeke was a bit of a surprise. When Evan was born, I knew I wanted at least one more. We didn’t really plan for a baby to be born at the beginning of wedding season though; we initially “aimed” for March. But it was fitting that my first and last pregnancies both “ended” at the same time, eleven years apart. I didn’t know I was in for such an exciting ride when we checked in on May 28th at 5:00 am for my fourth and final csection.
The past year has been a whirlwind. I photographed over a dozen weddings and countless sessions with Zeke and Emi in tow. We’ve visited three states (Minnesota, Texas and Florida) between Zeke’s arrival and his first birthday. Our entire family’s first DisneyWorld trip, a Seaside excursion and our yearly clam digging trip all took place too.
Wilderness Cake Smash
Though I don’t do them super often (mostly for my kids, niece/nephew and a few close friends), cake smash sessions tend to fall in the favorites category. If I didn’t photograph weddings, this is what I’d want to do on the regular. The “worst” part isn’t how messy they get, it’s the setup and tear down of props. I was overjoyed when I saw that Farms & Fairytales would do cake smash setups (and hosts a whole room for them!) so I could just show up, shoot and clean up!
I saw a similar Wilderness setup on her Instagram and fell deeply in love with it. The boys room is sorta themed with wilderness things, so I knew it was meant to be. I’m looking forward to using this space many times during the summer months as my clients all have cutie patooties too!
