Vendor Highlight: Karrie Michelle Floral Design

It’s always an honor when couples choose to book you without meeting first. It’s the ultimate level of trust. For Karrie Michelle Floral Design and I, we both had the honor of helping make Jazmine and Dominic’s Seattle Elopement Dreams come true. When Jazmine showed me the stunning bouquet that Karrie designed for her, I knew I had to feature this amazing floral artist on my blog!

While I haven’t gotten the chance or honor of meeting Karrie in person, one day I will. In the meantime I will highly recommend her to everyone I come across. She’s sweet, talented and a master at her craft. Read on to learn more about Karrie and Karrie Michelle Floral Design.

Please tell me a bit more about you and Karrie Michelle Floral Design:

I’m a studio designer and work out of my home. My favorite part of this business is working with a couple, taking their vision and making it a reality, while keeping them in budget!

How did you get started as a florist?

It started as a hobby. I have had a love for flowers since I was little. For Christmas and Thanksgiving my mom would take me to the store and let me pick out different flowers and bring them home to make centerpieces for the holiday dinners. As I got older, I started helping with parties and weddings for family and friends. After I did my wedding flowers and my daughter’s wedding flowers my husband noticed it was more than a hobby. It was a passion. He surprised me on my birthday last year with enrollment into Floral Design School. That gave me the little push I needed to start making a living doing what I love.

What do you enjoy most about florals and weddings in particular?

I really enjoy meeting the couples and their families. I have truly had some of the sweetest brides! I love how happy flowers make people. Sharing flowers with people on their happiest day- How can you beat that?!?

What is one question you always ask during an initial consultation?

Other than the regular, “Do you have a favorite flower?” or “What is your budget?”, I always ask to see a picture of the bride’s dress. It helps me get a better feel for the style of the bride and her wedding. A bouquet should compliment the bride and her dress and not distract or take away from it.

If you can give couples only one piece of advice for their wedding, what would it be?

It’s cliche, but slow down and enjoy your wedding day. Enjoy the people that you invited to celebrate with you. So much planning goes into a wedding and the day flies by in a blur. Don’t sweat the small stuff, at the end of the day you will be married, and this is just the beginning.

What makes the perfect wedding bouquet?

I believe the bride’s personality should be reflected in her bouquet.
