Boss Mama’s Kitchen: A Local Love Story
First up: Please tell me a bit more about you and Boss Mama’s Kitchen:
I’m a local…..left my corporate career to start a food truck business. Born and raised in the Tacoma area…..I love people, I love making people happy through food, and I love to live life! I’m a huge foodie, and sports fan, and we love to travel! I’ve owned Boss Mama’s Kitchen since July of 2016. This is our 3rd full summer….and things are getting better and better as the days go on. Hard work pays off!
How did you get started catering weddings?
Once I started the food truck business, word of mouth spread and we started to get calls for weddings, at random.
What sets you apart from other food truck caterers?
Our personality and our food. We dont “hot hold”. Everything comes out of the truck window, hot and fresh, made to order. My staff, no questions asked, is top notch. I will put them up against anyone. You wont find a more kind, friendly, customer first attitude, crew out there! You will never find a crew that goes above and beyond and is as friendly, as these guys are!
Do you have a favorite story from a wedding or working with a couple?
Yes……We had a couple that loved eating our food…..they called themselves our “stalkers”. One day, they asked us to cater their wedding and we were front and center for their photos and everything….they were absolutely amazing. The wedding was at a brewery…it was amazing! Sadly it’s only been a year and they are divorced.
What is your favorite dish to make at a wedding?
Our Mama Fratelli burger……hands down, its’ our biggest selling burger ever since we added it to the menu. It’s our version of a fair burger…but bigger!
*Provolone
*1/2 lb. of Angus Beef
*Grilled Onions
*Bacon
*Mayo
*Pub Bun
It is SO gooey! People love it…it’s our most requested burger. We also like to customize burgers for weddings, as well. I love to get to know the bride and groom. One wedding that we did, I had the bride tell me what she liked on her burger, as well as the groom. Then, I created one. We had 3 burgers on the menu…..The Bride, The Groom, and The Honeymoon….it was a HUGE HIT!
If you could give couples only one piece of advice for their wedding, what would it be?
Communicate. Don’t get frustrated at stupid little things. No one is perfect. Learn to talk…..even if it’s about the little things. Good, bad, and ugly, communication is the key to happiness.
