Tipsoo Lake Engagement Session | Kylee & Evan
Let’s be honest: It’s taken me WAY TOO LONG to sit down and write this blog post. But I mean, there was that whirlwind September wedding season, a fire that had us on evacuation alert, homeschooling and I probably had to make soup or some other excuse. So here we are two months after this Tipsoo Lake engagement session and I’m finally writing this blog post.
Tipsoo Lake, Mount Rainier National Park
I met Kylee through another client and have been so incredibly lucky to call her my friend. A fellow Disney fanatic, I followed her instagram shortly after our first session together, to sneak peeks at her February 2019 Disneyland trip. Of course, this also means I see all her fun adventures, including her Naches Trail hike over the summer. Seeing the photos from her hike, I KNEW we needed to head up there and have her engagement session.
Thankfully, the National Parks Association has loosened the rules for engagement photography in MRNP, and it’s allowed as long as it’s just the clients without any props. Heeding the rules, we left all our props at home and headed out to the trail head.
Perfect Timing
When I’m planning adventure sessions, there’s always a timing debate in my head. When I asked Kylee about the length of time it took them to hike the trail, I only added about 45 minutes to that time frame for stopping to take photos. I figured we’d set out at 3:30, and I’d be home by 7 or 8 pm. Cute huh?
Instead, we headed out at 3:30 and I believe I pulled back in my driveway (which is only about an hour from Tipsoo) at 9:30 or so. Oops. But the timing couldn’t have been better for the hike. It wasn’t overly warm, the lighting was perfect in almost every spot we stopped, and we were still back to our cars before dark. Add in the amazing dress Kylee brought with, and it made for a swoon worthy session. (Her hiking in it tells you everything you need to start dreaming of her wedding).

As of now, there are only 344 days until Kylee and Evan’s wedding! I was thrilled when she chose me to be her wedding photographer and cannot wait for the big day. If their engagement photos tell you anything, it should be this: Their wedding is going to be BOMB!
