Taylor + Dallas Married | Kiana Lodge, Pouslbo, WA
In April, I was able to join Julie of Sound and Sea Photography at Kiana Lodge in Poulsbo for Taylor + Dallas’ beautiful pacific northwest wedding. As much as I love second shooting, it’s hard to write about couples I really don’t know. So instead, I’m going to show you their beautiful wedding while talking about another thing I love: the Pacific Northwest history.
Kiana Lodge, nestled in the quaint town of Poulsbo, Washington, is a wedding venue steeped in heritage and history, making it a sought-after destination for couples seeking a unique and picturesque setting for their special day. Situated on the Kitsap Peninsula with breathtaking views of the Puget Sound and the Olympic Mountains, Kiana Lodge exudes the beauty of the Pacific Northwest.
Originally established in the early 20th century, Kiana Lodge holds deep-rooted ties to the Suquamish Tribe, specifically the descendants of Chief Sealth, also known as Chief Seattle, a prominent figure in the history of the region. The lodge’s name, “Kiana,” is derived from the Suquamish language and translates to “garden by the water,” a fitting moniker that reflects the lodge’s natural surroundings.
The lodge’s heritage is beautifully interwoven with its architecture and design, showcasing traditional Coast Salish influences. Visitors are welcomed by the iconic and stunning totem poles that adorn the property, each telling a story and honoring the native culture. The lodge’s longhouse-style reception hall, featuring open beams and a grand fireplace, offers an authentic and warm ambiance for wedding celebrations.
For couples seeking a wedding venue that pays homage to the rich heritage of the Pacific Northwest, Kiana Lodge stands as a beacon of cultural appreciation and natural beauty. The venue offers an extraordinary blend of historic significance and contemporary elegance, making it an ideal choice for those who wish to honor tradition while embarking on their own unique journey of love.
As couples exchange vows amidst the natural splendor of the lodge and the serene waterscape, they become part of the lodge’s living history—a history that celebrates love, culture, and the timeless beauty of the Pacific Northwest.
