A Tacoma Engagement Session Planning Guide

Tacoma Engagement Session Planning Guide

Sometimes planning your Tacoma Engagement Session is easy. You wake up with a vision in your head of your day with the perfect weather, perfect outfit, out running through a field (or something equally as romantic) with your partner. You have the idea all laid out in your head. But other times, you may be so overwhelmed that even deciding what you’re going to wear is just too much to handle. This is where we come in. Tiffany and I are full of our own ideas, and even if you don’t want to use one of ours, they might be a good basis to start building your own dream Tacoma Engagement Session.

For the Adventurous Couple:

The adventurous couple loves being outdoors and finding new secluded places to go. You wouldn’t be happy with just the same old engagement session downtown…. You want scenic views, gorgeous landscapes, and a slim chance that anyone else will be peeking in on your Tacoma engagement session. We suggest heading a bit out of Tacoma and up towards Mt Rainier. With summer around the corner, Paradise and Tipsoo will begin to have gorgeous wildflowers blooming. The Olympic Forest boasts some beautiful trails with sun streaming through the trees. Or if you want something a little more off the beaten path; WTA.org offers hundreds of amazing hikes, including Poo Poo point, Rattlesnake Ledge, and Spray Park Loop. Be sure to wear those hiking boots and pack in your outfits though; some hikes like Ranger Falls, are 8 miles each way and can be a bit soggy after a rainfall.

For the Urban Trendsetters:

You want your Tacoma engagement session to result in those trendy brick walls and skylines with you and your hunny kissing in the foreground. Whether you choose to go dressy or wear your favorite street clothes, the options around Tacoma and Seattle are endless. Head to Opera Alley in Tacoma for some modern and beautiful graffiti art, along with donuts and coffee at The Donut House; or venture down to Ruston way for some old town feel and waterfront views. If you’re wanting more of the Emerald City in your photos, consider a jaunt up through the streets of Seattle’s Pioneer Square. From the Brick Square to the strings of lights above Post Street, there is plenty of Old World Romance to be found. For some fun carnival feels, stroll through Pike Place Market and down to the piers where you can take photos feeding each other fish and chips, or smooching with the ferris wheel in the background. If you’d prefer to just have that pretty skyline in the background, head over to Alki Beach for a sunrise session to get those.

For the Homebodies:

You’re the ones who’d rather sit at home in your vintage rock t-shirts, drinking coffee across your second hand table and binge watch the newest Netflix show; never even considering getting dressed up to go out. This probably leaves you with the best options of all: to bake cookies or not to bake cookies? Even if you choose not to bake cookies, you can still make the most of this day together. Pick out your favorite meal and cook it together, while one of us quietly observes and photographs the connection between the two of you. Enjoy your coffee, snuggle on your couch, play with your dogs, BBQ in your backyard. The possibilities are endless for your Tacoma engagement session when you’re staying at home with your love.

For the Bohemian Beach Lover:

Head to the beach! Enough said right? Nope, it gets better! Pack a picnic, grab your partner, a blanket and a bunch of pillows to make the coziest beach session possible. Whether you choose to go with a flowy dress, or simply a pretty ethereal swimsuit; go get in the water, feel the sand on your toes, and get your romantic beach vibes on! Our favorite beaches for Tacoma engagement sessions are Owens Beach at Point Defiance, Dash Point State Park (parking fees apply), and anywhere in Ocean Shores. Make this session your own with custom drink koozies, your favorite beach tote, and a mason jar to find seashells and sand for your memories.
