Sumner Main Street Engagement | Mckenzie & Dustin

There’s been a lot of kismet in my life these last couple of years, and upon meeting Mckenzie and Dustin for their Sumner Main Street engagement, the vibe was no different! These two super adorable people stole my heart as we chatted about their upcoming wedding and all the things that go along with planning during this insane year we’re calling 2020.

Having married my mom’s best friend’s son, it always makes me swoon just a little to hear about love stories that involve best friend’s relatives. Mckenzie’s best friend happens to be Dustin’s cousin, and while he was visiting Washington, these two were introduced. They started chatting after Mckenzie’s 19th birthday and have been dating for 3 years now! Who knew she’d one day be related (even distantly) by marriage to her best friend one day.

Of course, Mckenzie is a gal after my own heart. While chatting, Dustin recounted their proposal story: as it turns out, Mckenzie actually proposed to him. Dustin was ring shopping and the original ring he’d chosen was a bit too expensive, so he was considering his “backup” option. Mckenzie knowing exactly what she wanted, purchased the ring herself and presented it to him one day! I love a gal who knows what she wants and goes for it.

Wanting something a little different from their rustic wedding plans, we met on Sumner Main Street for their engagement session. One of the things I love about Sumner is the variety of awesome backdrops! No matter where you turn, there’s something for everyone from classic brick walls, colored backdrops and the iconic Craft.19 “Live Like the Mountain is Out” mural. I’ve been trying to get the perfect shot of that mural for years, and finally got it with Mckenzie and Dustin’s engagement session!

Like many 2020 couples, COVID decided to throw a wrench in their plans. Mckenzie’s grandparents purchased her wedding dress and the two of them had decided to get married asap so that her grandparents could see her in it. Sadly Covid decided to cancel all our plans for spring this year, and their June wedding was moved to August.

I loved getting to know these two and cannot wait to meet their awesome family. They told me all the wonderful things, and I’m sure excited to meet Mckenzie’s mom; She sounds like my kinda woman. Congratulations Mckenzie & Dustin!
