Sumner Engagement Session | Sarah & Allen
How far would you go for love? Could you imagine hiding behind a cop car, waiting for the love of your life while the police stare you down? At Sarah and Allen’s Sumner Engagement session, Allen told me his side of their proposal story. Let me tell you, he’s much braver than I am.
Sarah and Allen met in high school, but this isn’t a high school sweethearts story. They both ran cross country and track for different schools and knew each other from races, but weren’t friends. It wasn’t until after college, and after several patient attempts from Allen to invite Sarah for a beer, that they met at a brewery and have been together ever since.
A TCS New York Marathon Proposal
There are few things I love more than a good proposal story, and one of those is the element of surprise (as long as it’s not happening to me, haha). Sarah told me about their proposal below:
I had been planning to run the New York Marathon in November 2019 for the last year. Allen had to work that weekend, so he wasn’t planning on coming. I had therefor gone to NY with my cousin (maid of honor) and brother. They apparently had all been scheming without me nding out. Allen had taken a red-eye Saturday night in order to get to the race’s nish line at Central Park that morning. When I exited the park after the race, he was there on the street with my cousin & brother; with a ring in hand, down on one knee.
Surprise engagements are so much fun! But remember those police I mentioned earlier? Allen told us that he was trying to hide from Sarah, so she didn’t expect anything when she came across the finish line. He ducked behind a cop car, gaining the attention of the police officers nearby. It took what seemed like forever, but they realized he was planning to propose! I’m so glad they did because of course, he pulled it off (with help!) and she said yes!
Sarah & Allen’s Sumner Engagement Session
For their engagement session, Sarah and Allen chose to head to Sumner. Sarah wanted something different than the rustic vibe they have planned for their wedding. We chose to start at the Sounder station, and then roam the residential streets before heading to main street in Sumner.
One of my favorite spots is the “Live like the Mountain is Out” mural on the side of the Craft.19 building. If you haven’t checked it out, it’s definitely worth a stop (also the coffee and crepes are divine there). This spot also gave Sarah the brick wall she was hoping for, a very classic old town staple.
I’m so excited to be celebrating with Sarah and Allen in August, and cannot wait to see where their adventures take them.
