Summer Brookstom Creek Wedding | Sonja + Scott
The hottest wedding of the year goes to… Sonja + Scott’s Summer Brookstom Creek Wedding. No seriously… after rescheduling due to COVID, not even 100+ degree temperatures were going to stop this wedding from happening. It may have delayed this blog post though because wedding hangover hit hard after a full day in the sun!
Sonja + Scott met at the lake in 2015. Maybe you would call it love at first sight or kismet, but they each knew the other would be a VIP in their life. They began getting to know each other, and Scott proposed in front of their family and friends at their baby shower.
This wasn’t just any proposal though. Sonja’s beloved family dog had passed away the year before and it really hit Sonja hard. Scott took the initiative to choose the perfect rose gold ring and have her sweet pup’s name engraved on the inside. This way, Sonja can keep them both close to her heart when she wears it. If that’s not the sweetest thing you’ve heard all day, you probably need to get out more.
Planning their Summer Brookstom Creek wedding wasn’t all sunflowers and navy blue. Covid threw a wrench into the plans and a few obstacles to overcome. You’ll love knowing that they ended up having their cake tasting in the parking lot of the local Taco Time. They’d picked up the samples before snagging some lunch and joining the manager on zoom to go over the flavors. If that’s not Covid Wedding Planning in a nutshell, I don’t know what is.
The other seemingly big snag was the dress. Sonja had picked out a dress right at the beginning of covid before everything shut down. When she went earlier this year to have her dress fitted and alterations done, the bridal shop didn’t have the correct fabric to complete the job! Of course, they offered to order the dress again, however it wouldn’t arrive until November of 2021. Obviously, that wasn’t going to work with a June wedding date. Instead, they allowed her to trade the dress for one they had in stock.
Sonja’s glam squad (including her best friend, mom and grandma) helped her pick out a new dress. It was the first one she saw and one million percent perfect! The beautiful lace detailing, and a bit of sparkle fit Sonja’s personality. It wasn’t too restrictive either and flowed behind her beautifully as she ran through the sprinklers.
Yes, you read that right. Sonja ran through the sprinklers at her Summer Brookstom Creek wedding. Did I mention it hit 108 degrees in Buckley that day? Her family and guests were troopers, and even though the cupcakes were a little droopy themselves by the end of the day, everyone was game with the sprinklers came on. Sonja and Haylee (her maid of honor) both headed out to the field, hiked their dresses and made a run for it. Getting to spend the day with Sonja + Scott, sharing in the love they have for each other, their family and their friends, was an absolute blast. I’m looking forward to watching their newest adventure as husband and wife unfold.
