Stonehouse 101 Wedding in Roslyn | Krystal + Robert
You remember the nursery song that goes “over the river and through the woods”? That is legitimately the only line I remember from the song, but it plays in my head whenever I head to a wedding. For Krystal and Robert’s Stonehouse 101 wedding, we traveled the two and a half hours to Roslyn. Tons of rivers and woods on that drive.
Krystal and Robert have a long history together covering all the different stages of life. These two met through Krystal’s best friend, Sherranna (Robert’s sister) and they loved each other as kids. Their friendship and love grew as they did, eventually becoming romantic love as adults. Their kids recounted memories of guessing that “Uncle Robert” was dating their mom, and O-dawg recounted finding out via group text message.
Every moment is the right moment
Watching Krystal and Robert together in person, was like watching every sweet moment from my favorite movies all blended into one long film. The love these two share is incredibly palpable; you can feel it radiating between them. Seeing him tear up as he saw Krystal in her dress during their first look made the moment one of perfection. You’d never have guessed his proposal didn’t work out the way he’d originally planned. Krystal tells us about it below.
“Robert finally proposed to me after dragging his feet to “find the right moment” in our doorway before leaving to meet our friends for wine tasting. That was not his original plan according to Robert. He became my volunteer for bringing students from our school to ACT testing. I began signing up and bringing students to take the ACT as a pathway for students to graduate high school and begin their journey into adulthood. Robert recognized this task as more than bringing students to take a test, but as a way to break down barriers which often stand in the way of their future. His idea was to propose to me at the Green River College while we were waiting for our students to finish the test, but that day everything that could go wrong while waiting for a test to finish seemed to go wrong. I knew something was off with Robert this day, he was even more awkward than on a typical day. The day came to a close without a proposal and in the morning after we had gotten ready for the day about to walk out the door he got down on one knee told me he was looking for “the right moment” but that every moment is the right moment while we are together.”

Stonehouse 101 Wedding in Roslyn, WA
Krystal and Robert met Jake at the Tacoma Fall 2019 Wedding Show while I was in the hospital after Evan’s birth. Originally planned as a 2020 wedding, they ended up moving to a 2021 wedding date like a lot of couples did. But they didn’t want to wait to start their new forever together, and eloped on their original wedding date. Their wedding brought all the things they love together. Small details like the handmade cedar roses, beautifully beaded kicks and turquoise elements in their rings personalized their day.
Krystal + Rob, Thank you for sharing your wedding day and your family with us. I cannot wait to see the adventures you two take together. Congratulations (a second time). xoxo, Mj
