Snowy Carter Falls Adventure: Brittany + Chad

Clients who are always down for an adventure, tend to steal my heart right away. When Brittany hired me and said they wanted a snowy engagement session, I may or may not have squealed. (No, I won’t tell! You can decide on your own. Ha!) I presented Brittany and Chad with a few options for their engagement session and they chose a Snowy Carter Falls Adventure.

Almost all adventure sessions include a small hike of sorts; sometimes on a paved path and others over a bit rougher terrain. Their Snowy Carter Falls Adventure engagement turned out to be the later, so thankfully Jake accompanied me on the hike and ended up carrying my gear. It seems I’ve made it a habit of hiking at 15-17 weeks pregnant, so fingers crossed this was the last time.

Carter Falls at Mount Rainier

When we met up with Brittany and Chad, I thought for sure we’d have to hike a ways in before seeing the beautiful view of the mountain. However, Rainier came out right away in all her glory for us to snag a few shots before heading into the woods. Brittany and Chad were troopers, even when my pregnant rear had to take more breaks than anyone else in our party. I’m thankful they’re cool like that.

If you ever really want to get to know someone, go hiking with them. No cell service leads to some pretty awkward silences (which Chad later mentioned were his specialty, so he probably did it on purpose. LOL!) and you have to fill those gaps with talking. Brittany admitted she wasn’t going to go on the date with Chad, but for some reason she did it anyway. Chad and Jake work in similar fields, so they had lots to chat about while Brittany and I talked about “girl stuff”. I love when it’s so easy to click with clients, and these two are a dream to work with!

Snowy Carter Falls

I hate to admit when things aren’t exactly what they seemed, but with online research, it happens sometimes. As it turns out, Carter Falls was down below the trail route, and with the snow we couldn’t safely get down to the bottom. So rather than breathtaking waterfall photos, we got beautiful snowy forested photos.

The hike in was beautiful, the company was superb. I’m so thankful to have met Brittany and Chad, and cannot wait to celebrate their wedding day with them!
