Romantic Elopement Style at Alki Seattle

After every romantic elopement or wedding comes the question: What do you do with the dress? For many brides, the wedding dress is one of their largest expenses, coming in second only to the venue, photographer and catering. So what do you do when you CAN’T wear that gorgeous gown you splurged on?

Wear it for your anniversary shoot.

Two years ago, Ashly had the perfect dress, the perfect man, and the perfect vision for her day. She’d picked out a stunning gown and couldn’t wait to wear it. Destiny had other plans for this beautiful bride (and her dress). When her wedding day came, her dress no longer fit due to her beautiful baby girl being eager to arrive shortly after their wedding. Ashly found a new dress and rocked her wedding day, looking as beautiful as ever. Meanwhile, her carefully chosen gown sat in her closet, unused with no further purpose. When Ashly told us this story, we knew we needed to give her dress a life. We invited her and Rick, to join us for an early morning session out on Alki, as a celebration of their wedding anniversary and a chance to get the couples portraits that featured her stunning gown.

The morning started out behind schedule (yikes) but made for the perfect morning. A beautifully overcast made for perfectly even lighting throughout the morning, and the view of the Seattle Skyline was exquisite on the horizon. Ashly and Rick, being game for everything, braved the goose droppings, broken down boat pieces and a chair that I’m not sure has ever seen the inside of anywhere. The best part? They’re still totally in love. This relaxed couple made things so easy to photograph. It may not have been their actual wedding day, but from the snuggly romantic elopement style this shoot boasted, you’d never have guessed it was anything else.
