The Newlywed Guide | Hot Seattle Breakfast Dates
When in doubt, eat breakfast.
Whether you’re celebrating your newlywed status or just out enjoying each other’s company, a good hearty breakfast may be just the key. Sure, the hotel may have a buffet, but here are my two favorite breakfast hotspots for the morning after your wedding or any other morning date! (They’re even FABULOUS to cure those blasted hangovers.) I highly suggest you check out, Beth’s Cafe or Glo’s Cafe, even if you don’t get out of bed until 2:00 pm.
Beth’s Cafe | Seattle, WA
Beth’s has been featured on the Travel Channel, Food Network and the Learning Channel, in addition to being voted “Best Place to Cure a Hangover”. I have to agree. Beth’s has become a favorite of mine when I’m in the Seattle area for pretty much any meal. Who doesn’t love breakfast for dinner? I’ve even developed a standard order…. the Triple Bypass. Their 6 or 12 egg omlet choices are perfect for sharing (a tiny extra charge for the split is totally worth it), and still having leftovers.
Glo’s Cafe | Seattle, WA
Glo’s is a tiny place, open 12:00 am to 4:00 pm and you’ll want to arrive early to get a seat, but the coffee is complimentary while you wait. When I visited this cozy restaurant, I was seated at a shared table with a couple. The whole atmosphere feels very much like sitting in a dining room with your family. I’m guessing it’s something about the small space. While their menu boasts some interesting options, including smoked salmon in both a scramble and a Benedict, they also have milder options for those of us who aren’t as adventurous.
Feeling like you’ve eaten too much but don’t want to head back to your hotel? Greenlake is right around the corner from Beth’s or head down to Pike Place Market to walk off those calories and enjoy your first outing as newlyweds.
Dixie’s | Sumner, WA
I grew up in Sumner, and surprisingly hadn’t visited Dixie’s until about 5 years after I graduated. (Are you surprised to learn that was over 10 years ago?) This place has been around forever and serves some of the best hometown fare you can think of. I’m a huge fan of their biscuits and gravy. It’s definitely a crowd pleaser (and big enough to share!). When you’re done here, head to Main Street and browse the adorable shops for vintage chic home decor!
Hometown Charm Cafe | Sumner, WA
Owned by a friend of mine, Hometown Charm Cafe has the World Famous Hobo Hash. Suitable for almost all dietary needs you can choose from one of their three delicious hobo hash recipes or build your own to fit your tastes! Personally, I’m a huge fan of the Chili Hobo Hash with a side of extra bacon. Want a goodie to share with your loved one? Snag one of their extra large cinnamon rolls. It’s sure to please! Be sure to tell Teresa that Markie says hi when you visit. She’s likely to be behind the counter.
Craft. 19 | Sumner, WA
This is for the coffee & crepe lover in all of us. If you want a breakfast spot that specializes in sourcing local ingredients, this one is going to become your go to place! I personally love their menu and how it keeps things simple since I always have trouble deciding at restaurants! A choice of 7 crepes (4 sweet and 3 savory) pair beautifully with any latte. Kick it up a notch with one of their housemade seasonal syrups, and if you ever get the chance to try a lavender latte, DO IT.
