Mount Rainier Adventure Session | Meghan + Trent
Back in October, I was blessed to meet the sweetest couple, Meghan + Trent. They’d flown in from Ohio, and wanted to take some time out to adventure and capture some snowy mount rainier portraits after their wedding day.
Mount Rainier Adventure Session
Leading up to the day of their session, we’d carefully planned out an incredible six mile hike starting at Paradise. Trent really wanted the view of the Tatoosh Mountain Range and the best view would be from the Skyline Trail. I was super excited about this hike, and finding a beautiful spot for their vow exchange. It seems the universe had other plans though.
The morning of their session was chaos, and I found myself scrambling to find a way up the mountain. (The reasons behind this are a story for another post…) Thankfully, Jake knows his wife well enough that he arrived home, tossed all the gear in his car and we managed to arrive only 30 minutes later than planned. Meghan + Trent were incredibly understanding and flexible when it came to changing the plan.
An Alternate Adventure Plan
Upon arrival, we found Mother Nature hadn’t exactly cooperated and we were unprepared to make a six mile hike in the slushy snow that covered the trail. So we improvised instead with a short hike up the trail and a stop/go car adventure down the mountain. Doing this, we were able to still capture what I believe is the Tatoosh Mountain Range (though I’m not 100% sure on that) in the background of several portraits. I was ecstatic when Mount Rainier was fully visible at Paradise, and we were able to use that to our advantage. You know it’s a good day when the mountain is out.
In the end, it turned out to be a wonderful day and we were able to capture some beautiful portraits with the mountain backgrounds. I loved getting to know them a bit more and hope they enjoyed their visit to Washington!
