Mariah & Kasey | Brookstom Creek Wedding

I look forward to every Brookstom Creek Wedding I get to photograph, but this one in particular really had me itching for September to arrive. Mariah and Kasey are two of the sweetest people you’ll meet, and I was honored to be chosen to stand by their side. I couldn’t have picked a sweeter couple to jump back into full wedding days with after having my son!

First things first: Who proposed and how?

Kasey proposed. It was a Wednesday and I had just gotten off work. Randomly, Kasey wanted to take me and our son to the lake. I was down for that because it was a beautiful day and still quite early. A little adventure! I looked like a scrub but who cares?! We were just going to go fish and walk the lake.

We got there and made our journey down the quarry to the lake. My son was fishing and I saw him cast out to the left. When I followed my eyes back down to the right, there I saw Kasey on one knee. Shaking like a leaf on a tree, and somewhat nervously yelling at me “ WILL YOU MARRY ME?” I was so taken back!! Was totally not expecting it and I think I even said , “are you serious?” Then I realized what was happening and was overcome with joy! I blurted out “of course I will!” And then our son Zeke yelled “ Daddy caught a Mommy!” So cute. It was literally the most special, perfect proposal for me.

Let’s talk more about your wedding day:

What did you envision your Brookstom Creek wedding being prior to planning?

From the moment I started envisioning our wedding, I always saw a romantic dark forest/Viking style wedding. I know, that’s a mouthful. And when I say dark, I don’t mean gothic. Just magical, mystical yet real.

What was your final color palette and style vision?

I knew I wanted darker tones, lots of greenery and raw, natural earth material. I was obsessed with the show on history channel called Vikings. After an all night binge I literally thought I could be a Viking. Haha! I wanted greys, black, burgundy, sage green and creamy rose pink. It all seemed to come together. I’m lucky to have married into a family of hunters so we had access to huge antlers that we placed behind us at the alter. As well as elk skull mounts and cow skull mounts. It was absolutely breath taking!

I have to agree that her wedding was magical. From her unique long sleeved gown to the black dahlias, Mariah carefully crafted a one of a kind vibe for their wedding day! I was honestly so sad leaving this wedding, because the two of them felt like a pair of my best friends!
