Megan + Ben’s Sustainable & Stylish Farm 12 Wedding
As wedding photographers, we’ve been fortunate to capture so many love stories, each one unique in its own way. But every once in a while, a wedding comes along that feels sprinkled with a little extra magic, and that’s exactly how Megan and Ben’s wedding at Farm 12 felt. It was intentional, thoughtful, and as unique as the two of them.
Megan and Ben had a clear vision for their wedding day, and let me tell you, we were absolutely in love with it. They dreamed of a celebration that was not only beautiful but also sustainable—something that reflected their values. From locally sourced farmers market florals to a stunning second-hand gown, every detail was a reflection of who they are. And instead of traditional wedding favors, they chose to donate to a local animal rescue, which just goes to show how big their hearts are. Plus, they tied the knot on Friday the 13th, a day some might avoid, but for Megan, it’s always been her lucky day.
Now, Ben’s family isn’t new to us—we photographed his nephew’s wedding back in 2021! So, when Ben and Megan asked us to capture their day, it felt like reuniting with old friends. There’s something so special about watching a family grow, and getting to witness these milestones feels like we’re part of their journey. Megan and Ben’s wedding was the perfect continuation of that story, filled with love, warmth, and new beginnings.
Farm 12: The Perfect All-in-One Venue + Catering
If you haven’t had the pleasure of visiting Farm 12 in Puyallup, you’re missing out on one of the area’s hidden gems. This venue strikes the perfect balance between rustic charm and modern elegance, and it was the ideal setting for Megan and Ben’s wedding.
The moment we walked in, we knew it was going to be an unforgettable day. There’s this stunning staircase at Farm 12 that leads up to a balcony overlooking the reception space, and it became a beautiful focal point throughout the day. Megan made her grand entrance down those steps, and the whole room seemed to hold its breath. The open, airy vibe of the venue made every guest feel like they were part of something truly special.
Let’s be real: one of the highlights of any wedding is the food, and Farm 12 knocked it out of the park. They handled the catering, and the food was fresh, delicious, and fit perfectly with the cozy, homegrown feel of the day. For dessert, guests indulged in sweet treats from Farm 12, which was the perfect way to end the meal. Every bite felt like a warm hug, and it matched the comforting, heartfelt vibe of the wedding.
A Sustainable Wedding with Heart
Megan and Ben’s commitment to sustainability wasn’t just a buzzword—it was woven into every part of their day. The florals, sourced from local farmers markets, were vibrant, fresh, and beautifully paired with sage and muted greens. Megan’s uncle took on the challenge of creating the table centerpieces, and let me tell you, he nailed it! The arrangements were simple yet elegant, perfectly reflecting the couple’s down-to-earth style while keeping things chic.
Then, there was Megan’s dress. She looked like an absolute vision in her second-hand gown, which fit her like it was custom-made. It had these tiny, delicate bows that added such a whimsical touch—she looked like she stepped straight out of a fairytale. The way the dress flowed as she walked was magical, giving her this ethereal, effortless beauty. Everything about her look was intentional, sustainable, and full of heart, just like the rest of the day.
A Heartwarming First Look
First looks are always a tearjerker, but Megan took it to the next level. She didn’t just share her first look with Ben; she also had one with her dad, mom, and a spontaneous first look with nana. Watching her dad’s face when he saw her in her wedding dress for the first time was one of those moments that makes you appreciate the beauty of weddings. His eyes filled with pride and love, and you could just feel how much that moment meant to him. It’s capturing moments like these that remind us why we love what we do—creating memories that will be cherished for generations to come.
Friday the 13th: Megan’s Lucky Day
Some people might get a little nervous about having their wedding on Friday the 13th, but Megan? She was all in. For her, it’s always been a lucky day, and judging by the amount of love and joy that surrounded them, we’d say she’s right!
The ceremony itself was simple yet deeply meaningful. Megan and Ben exchanged their public vows in front of their closest friends and family, but they saved something extra special just for each other. Instead of spoken private vows, they wrote letters—intimate keepsakes they’ll treasure forever. There’s something so romantic about this idea, and it added a personal layer of intimacy to their day that was truly beautiful.
Megan’s creativity didn’t stop with her dress or the florals. She brought in two interactive elements that guests loved: a selfie mirror and a rotary phone guestbook. The selfie mirror was an instant hit, with guests lining up throughout the night to snap photos. The rotary phone guestbook was a vintage touch that was as playful as it was sentimental. Guests left heartfelt (and sometimes hilarious!) messages for the couple, and we can only imagine how much fun Megan and Ben will have listening to them later.
Creating Magic with Light: A Taylor-esque Vibe
One challenge we faced on Megan and Ben’s day was catching the golden hour for sunset photos. Nature didn’t quite cooperate, but hey, we had a trick up our sleeves! With a little help from our lighting kit, we created a faux sunset that gave Megan and Ben those romantic, soft-lit moments they had been dreaming of.
Later in the evening, we took them outside under the venue’s string lights, and let me tell you—it felt like we stepped straight into a Taylor Swift music video. The vibe was dreamy, intimate, and effortlessly cool, just like the two of them. Those photos turned out to be some of our absolute favorites from the day. It’s moments like these that make wedding photography so magical, creating a little bit of cinematic beauty in the middle of real life.
Megan and Ben’s wedding wasn’t just a celebration—it was a reflection of who they are as a couple. From the farmers market florals to the second-hand gown, the rotary phone guestbook to the handwritten love letters, every detail was thoughtfully chosen to create a day that was as unique as their love.
We feel so lucky to have been part of their journey, capturing moments that are timeless, stylish, and filled with meaning. Megan and Ben, thank you for letting us be part of your incredible day—you two are truly one-of-a-kind, and your wedding was a perfect reflection of that.
