Lake Quinault Lodge Wedding | Sarah & Scott
I’ve been lucky to meet some pretty awesome people in the past couple years via Facebook groups, workshops and networking. One of those awesome people is Juli of Bonell Photography out of Hoqium. I was thrilled when she asked me to second shoot for her in October at Lake Quinault Lodge, even though it meant a trek to the Olympic Peninsula! Thankfully, my husband was willing to make the trek with baby Evan and I, because a three hour drive with an infant is no joke.
We left early morning and headed out to Lake Quinault Lodge. Luckily I thought to google it ahead of time, because my postpartum brain immediately took me to the Quinault Resort in Ocean Shores. Completely the wrong direction. Whoops. Thankfully we made it to Lake Quinault Lodge without any issues, and I was stoked with how beautiful the surrounding area was. I met up with Juli while Jake and Evan made themselves comfortable in the lodge with netflix and snuggle time.
There are so many incredible spots around the lodge for photographing details, and I could have spent most of the day going from place to place creating beautiful detail shots. But alas, we only had so much time before Sarah and Scott tied the knot at the pretty little gazebo on the green between the lodge and lake. Their sweet and short ceremony left us with plenty of light for some pretty couples portraits and group shots down the trail nearby.
Fall weddings have quickly become my favorites with all the beautiful oranges and purples. But I think the part that stood out the most about this micro wedding was the bride’s bouquet. What appeared from a distance to be a pretty standard wedding bouquet, quickly became the talk of the bridal suite when I got a bit closer. Ya’ll, there was kale in Sarah’s bouquet. KALE. Jokes quickly arose, including a snacky snack on the way down the aisle (hey, we all get hungry now and then). Thankfully Sarah was super good humored and she laughed just as hard as the rest of us. I mean… seriously. Kale.
Lake Quinault Lodge is incredible. There isn’t a detail left forgotten and they take pride in their beautiful venue. I honestly loved exploring the grounds of Lake Quinault Lodge with Juli and am just itching to go back!
