Jenny + Albert Married! | The Barn at Wilson Farm
Jenny + Albert were the first of TWO weddings we’d have this year at The Barn at Wilson Farm. (Have I mentioned yet about the large number of “bucket list” venues we knocked out this year? It’s most of them.) I was so excited after their engagement session, but the day of I suddenly got nervous. This year has been a different one for me, as most of our past couples were very hands on when it came to planning. This year we got some of the best, most laid back couples ever and I couldn’t have loved it more!
Ashlei of Loren Grace Weddings really nailed the decor setups during the beginning of the day. I loved getting to peek at all the goodies as she set everything up for their indoor reception. The ceremony was set up outdoors when we arrived and the only flip necessary here was to bring the chairs inside. Each table was adorned with a beautiful burnt orange runner, wooden accents and metal lanterns to create an incredible combination of elements.
When I headed up to join Jenny in the farmhouse, she was telling stories of growing up in Hawaii. Turns out Jenny is not only beautiful, but she’s highly skilled and has an impeccable sense of humor. A measly fifteen minutes in her presence and it was no secret why Albert loves her so much. Between laughs and drinks, we made sure to bring their puppers, Cookie, up for a few getting ready photos with mama. I’m always a sucker for those four legged babies (the two legged ones are cute too though), so I couldn’t resist the opportunity.
Meanwhile, Jake got photos of Albert and his buddies (and Cookie too of course!), down in the grooms suite. They did all the things that men do, (most of which I rarely see outside of photos) and made sure that Albert was ready to go for his big day.
During the ceremony, Narin kept everyone on their toes with his jokes. He was sure a fun officiant and definitely suited the vibe of Jenny + Albert’s combined personalities. Watching these two as they exchanged vows and joined together in marriage was a marvelous experience. Yet the real fun hadn’t even begun. After the ceremony, Narin found the noodle bar and some serious playfulness ensued. That’s right, Jenny + Albert had a Ramen Bar at their wedding. Every cup’o’noodle you could imagine was there, Dicks Burgers and Taco Bell Tacos. These two are definite foodies, as that was just the snacks for after dinner.
Before the delicious dinner was served, my life was forever changed. You may be wondering how a wedding I was working changed my life. Well, two words: Spam Musubi. A little backstory: My dad grew up on the wrong side of the tracks you might say. So, he equated a few things with growing up “poor” and there was this seemingly unspoken rule in our house that we didn’t eat those things. They were boxed mac-n-cheese and spam. When Jake and I got married, he was always commenting about getting spam. I jokingly told him one day that if we ever got divorced, I’d deliver the paperwork with a case of spam and a spam cookbook. To this day, he’s never allowed me to buy spam for our household.
But this spam musubi smelled so good, I was tempted to try it. I’m sure it was wonderful, though by the time we returned from couple’s portraits, the wedding guests had snagged it all! I thought it must have been delicious and secretly made a vow that I would be finding a way to make spam musubi very soon. (Spoiler alert: I did and Spam Musubi is now making a regular appearance in our household. Thank you Jenny + Albert!).
After dinner and their first dance, Jenny snuck away to change into her reception dress. She came back in a gorgeous black number with matching cowgirl boots. I loved the change and it suited both Jenny + Albert, plus it made for some fun extra photos. They continued to party with their friends and the DJ really brought the jams out for the remainder of their reception. We honestly loved everything about Jenny + Albert’s wedding and cannot wait to see where their adventures take them!
