Jackie + James Engaged!
t outside of Mount Rainier National Park’s Longmire entrance is the tiny town of Ashford. By tiny, we mean there’s one gas station, a few adorable shops and maybe 3 places to buy food with one of those being muffin tops at the coffee stand. But this tiny town is one of our favorite places to visit and when Jackie + James mentioned they wanted an Ashford Lodge Engagement Session, we jumped at the chance to visit this quaint little town.
We’d been blessed to meet Jackie and her new little one at the Puyallup Wedding Show where she presented us with their unique wedding vision: A Campground Wedding. I was thrilled when she chose us to photograph this summer, as I’d been dreaming of a camping style wedding with bonfires, s’mores, and late night snacks. This wedding is going to be a dream come true.
The Quaint Ashford Lodge
Though we frequent Ashford, I somehow missed the Ashford Lodge whenever we drove through. It’s right next door to Whitaker’s Bunkhouse which left me confusing the buildings near the bunkhouse with the actual Ashford Lodge. As it turns out, they’re completely separate properties and the Ashford Lodge is one to add to your AirBNB “must see” list. This cozy property features various cabin rooms for privacy and a plethora of beautiful vintage trailers. Darla is currently up on the AirBNB site with her cute little outhouse buddy ready for your next adventure. You can also find their four cabin rooms on AirBNB. Make sure to tell Scott we sent you!
Jackie + James’ engagement was a blast. We started with a tour of the property and chatted about their wedding day plans. I could easily envision everything they described and it made my heart giddy! Everything is going to be a perfect blend of outdoors and campy-sophistication. Jackie pulled their outfits and we matched things together for two different looks: one more casual and the other (my favorite) dressier for contrast!
Head over Heels
Watching the two of them interact together was truly a blessing. Emi carted Little Mr. R around (she loves baby wrangling) and gave them a bit of a break so they could enjoy each other’s company. By the end of their session, the stoic James really warmed up to the camera and things got a bit more playful. Their wedding weekend is going to be an amazing one, with some partygoers arriving Friday and you’d better believe the party won’t stop until Sunday.
Jackie + James, we can’t wait to celebrate with you!
