Intimate Altimeter Cabin Wedding | Rebecca + Jake
Raise your hand if you love everything intimate, and slightly spontaneous! Rebecca + Jake’s Altimeter Cabin Wedding was everything I could have dreamed of. Sharing vows under the towering trees in front of a small group of their favorite people. The delicious food and drinks that brought everyone together. Each piece and participant made their day magical.
Hey girl, let’s elope!
Although Rebecca + Jake had been engaged for a bit, they’d found Altimeter Cabin and booked as fast as possible. When they called to tour it, the tours were several weeks out and booking was out even farther! (It’s a popular spot and sooooo romantic!) So by the time they’d booked me, we were photographing their engagement session only weeks before their wedding day! (And it’s been such a whirlwind, I haven’t even gotten the engagement session posted on the blog! Yikes!)
It’s such a small world though, and I can’t even begin to explain how honored I am to have photographed this wedding. That morning I learned Jake (the groom) works with a good friend of my family (the owners of the farm where our hogs are!). Rebecca + Jake’s family was incredibly welcoming and by the time we left their intimate Altimeter Cabin wedding, it felt like we were part of their family.
Speaking of Family…
Rebecca + Jake made a point to include their whole family. One of Jake’s brothers and his sister served as the best man and maid of honor, while his other brother was the officiant! Jake’s Dad was the grill master, and other family members pitched in mixing drinks and putting everything together. It gave us a lot of time to get to know everyone who came.
Of course, this means family portraits are pretty quick and I love being able to make sure everyone gets a turn. There were plenty of smiles and laughter from everyone present. When we headed off for couples portraits, everyone was enjoying drinks and sharing stories.
Altimeter Cabin Wedding Portraits
When you arrive at Altimeter, it may feel a bit small. The entire venue encompasses about two acres, but Andrea (the owner) has some beautiful spots set up for portraits. Tucked away in the trees, you feel like you’re miles from everyone, though it’s only about 200 ft total. Between that pretty setup, and the walkways through the tall trees, Altimeter offered us a ton of beautiful portrait spots for canoodling and kissing. (Rebecca + Jake, not me.)
It’s always my favorite thing when I can make a wild suggestion to the couple and they agree. In this case, I recommended some snuggly portraits in the hammock between the cabin and mountain lodge. Rebecca + Jake were game for this idea and I LOVE how these last portraits turned out! It’s easy to see why I’m looking forward to the many adventures these two have ahead of them. They’re just the sweetest couple!
