How to add WOW factor to your intimate wedding
Intimate weddings have become such a thing that even with the loosened COVID restrictions, they don’t appear to be going away anytime soon! I’ll be honest, I am THRILLED that intimate weddings are here to stay. But how do you add wow factor when your guest count is low?
The good news is, it isn’t hard and a reduced guest count generally means a reduced investment leaving you more wiggle room to add wow factors for your wedding. I’d encourage you to pick one or two; more than that can feel a little “in your face” overboard. Below are my favorite options for wowing your guests, no matter how many in attendance.
Wow Factor Option One – Mood Lighting
Mood lighting is a great way to create an intimate vibe and boost the wow factor at your wedding. Plus it’s uber romantic when your dinner is entirely by candlelight. If your venue is against open flames, consider battery operated candles of varying heights. Fairy lights entwined in your centerpieces also brings an upscale romantic vibe.
Option Two – Late Night Eats
Even the smallest guest counts can end up stretching the party into the night. If your guests are likely to linger until after last call, be sure to order up some late night eats! Whether you’re simply ordering pizza from your favorite pizza truck or prefer the more upscale charcuterie boards, delicious eats are sure to ease those late night hunger pangs. (For my favorite late night eat, check out Sirius Woodfired Pizza and Catering. They’re worth it!)
Option Three – Statement Chairs
One of the best wow factors is choosing something just for you and your new spouse. In this case, a statement loveseat or set of chairs for your head table! Vintage Ambiance is a local company with a variety of beautiful furniture pieces that are sure to make your guests’ jaws drop! Their Claudine Olive Green chair set would make a beautiful statement piece behind your head table, or even set up off to the side in a lounge area. For something a little more subtle but still swoon worthy, check out their Vivienne Forest Green Velvet chairs. What can I say? I have an affinity for green.
Option Four – Unique Attire
Unique wedding attire is becoming a bit more mainstream, but it’s still one of the best ways to add wow factor. While Jake and I got married in a full on Halloween Costume Wedding, you don’t have to go that far to wow your guests. Consider something off the beaten path like a brightly colored dress or even a two piece outfit. Wedding gowns come in almost every style and color, from sparkles to pink lace, so you can easily find something that really speaks to you. My custom skirt was created by the wonderful artists at the Productivity Parlour for Artful Living in Tacoma.
Wow Factor Option Five – Eco Friendly Paper Products
With a reduced guest count, you’ll be able to get away with a smaller run of stationary products. Consider recycled paper products (which tend to be a bit more expensive) or even seed paper like the ones from Of The Earth in Seattle. Seed paper is an awesome way to add wow factor to your wedding, and do a little something for the earth (in this case, planting flowers to help save the bees!) when you’re done. Just be sure to let your guests know that all the paper products (menus, place cards, invites, etc.) can be planted in their home gardens after your wedding.
I’m pretty partial to the statement chairs and mood lighting, but I’d love to hear what your favorite way to add wow factor is! Do you have other ideas that you’ve implemented or dreamed up? Drop me a line and I may add a second blog post!
