Flaming Geyser Engagement | Mariah + Matt

I’m pretty sure by now all my blog posts start with how amazing my clients are. Don’t expect this Flaming Geyser Engagement post to be any different! Mariah + Matt are so super adorable, and the jokes on them cause we’re friends now.

Ya’ll know I’m pretty into honesty, and when I packed up my kiddos to head out to this session, I was a bit disappointed in the weather. Washington is a finicky state and we’d had beautiful sunshine during the week leading up to Mariah + Matt’s Flaming Geyser Engagement session. So I was 110% hoping and dreaming of beautiful sunset light. Old lady Washington wasn’t having any of that for us.

In the end, it didn’t really matter that the skies were overcast and cloudy. Those filters provided us with beautiful lighting, and these two were cracking jokes from the start. I kid you not; Jake had arrived from hosting my booth at the Falling Water Gardens Open House, and my pregnancy hormones kicked in for a hot minute. I commented (a little louder than intended) “Oh hey, you smell good.” to which Jake replied “I broke out the good stuff.” Not missing a single beat, Matt chimed in with “Oh you mean the Axe Body Spray?” Needless to say I busted up laughing while Jake took a minute to wrap his head around the conversation.

Typically, the guys take at least a good 15-20 minutes before they’re ready to crack jokes during engagement sessions. Not Matt though! It’s easy to see why Mariah fell for him. His witty sense of humor had all of us laughing moments after starting the session. It didn’t take much longer for their fun couple personality to start shining through. They kept each other smiling and laughing without much work from me.

Match Made with Humor

Of course, like many of my favorite couples, we finished our session too quickly before spending just as much time chatting and getting to know each other! It wasn’t long before I looked at my watch and realized we’d spent a solid two hours photographing their session and chatting with them. We packed up to leave, but not before Matt cracked one last joke: “In 10 years we’re going to look back and remember the day we paid them to be our friends”. If that’s not both funny and the biggest compliment ever, I don’t know what is.
