Fall Engagement Session Location Ideas to Love
Yes, it’s only August and we’re already thinking about Fall Engagement Sessions. Fall in Washington is a bit of a bipolar beast. It can be beautifully crisp and sunny one day, then dreary and monsoon weather the next. Having backup fall engagement session locations is a must for every couple wanting cozy photos. Below are my favorite alternative location options when the weather doesn’t hold out.
Fall Engagement Session Location: Local coffee shops
While I love a good cup of Starbucks, those busy coffee shop vibes just aren’t the right setting for romance. However, taking a stroll through your hometown, I’m willing to bet we can find at least one or two amazing coffee shops. For instance, in Sumner we have Craft 19. It’s an adorable coffee shop and creperie, so the two of you can fulfill your wishes to canoodle and eat crepes at the same time.
If we head over to Puyallup, Anthem Coffee is where you can snuggle on those big leather couches with wine in addition (or in lieu of) your latte. Just be warned that this place gets hoppin’ on the weekends. The park moms need a wine break too.
Fall Engagement Session Location: Your favorite bar
Pretty much my all time favorite option for s Fall engagement session location is the bar. (No, this is not because I want to drink!) You can pick your favorite from a seemingly unending list in our area. In Sumner, there’s Stuck Junction Saloon. While it’s a pretty basic bar scene, it would be fun to spend your engagement session shooting pool with your favorite drink. Bonus points if you order their pulled pork nachos and share with your favorite photographer (aka. Me).
Another local bar other clients have loved is The Forum in Tacoma. If you know of one closer, I’d love to hear about it. The best part about The Forum is the games. Walk in, order some deep fried pickles, grab your favorite game and challenge your fiance to a duel! Winner buys the next round of drinks. Meanwhile, I’ll just be over here photographing while you play.
Finally, the best of the bar scene… Dorky’s Arcade. Give your inner kid a chance to shine with some classic 80s video games. Indulge in a hard (or non-alcoholic) rootbeer and share a pizza. You can’t go wrong with this fall engagement session location. Of course, it is family friendly until 9 pm, so if you have kiddos be sure to bring them too!
Fall Engagement Session Location: An Airbnb
The downside to most of these fall engagement session locations is they’re all very public places. When you want seclusion, your best bet is going to be an AirBnB or VRBO. Sadly, this option isn’t adaptable to spontaneity, but it is a wonderful option for more privacy. Plus the possibilities are endless. I have a short list of favorites saved on my phone, but the one that always comes to mind is the Tiny Farmstay in Gig Harbor. You could even elope here. I know, I’ve photographed one. 😉
Bonus Idea: Your own home
If all else fails, or you just want to be no pants comfortable, your own home makes a great spot for a cuddly engagement session. Shove that clutter under the couch, and move your favorite etsy decor to the coffee table. Buy your favorite bottle of wine and let the good times roll. I’d suggest staying fully clothed, but if the pants come off… hey, it’s your house not mine. (Unrelated, mine is a no pants zone most of the time too).
