Courtney + Will’s Events on 6th Wedding
Courtney + Will’s Events on 6th Wedding was an incredibly beautiful day that many had waited years for. Surrounded by family and friends, these two finally tied the knot!
I’ve sat down to write this blog, probably about a hundred times in the past two months. Every time, I wouldn’t even know where to start. Not because there was nothing remarkable about their wedding, but because EVERYTHING was remarkable. I’d type a sentence and then remember something else I wanted to tell you.
Courtney is one of the brides I’ve known the longest (right there with my cousin, who’s wedding I photographed in 2013). We met when I was about 12 or 13, at a Tae Kwon Do studio in Puyallup. Eventually, I’d end up babysitting her and her little brother, as well as house sitting on occasion for her parents. We calculated that it’s been over 22 years, so you can imagine what an honor it was to be the one photographing her wedding day.
The first time I met Will was at their engagement (blog coming soon, life leads in random directions at times), and it was immediately obvious they were meant for each other. They’d been together for a while and had their own inside jokes. Spending that afternoon with them was an incredible joy. I was super excited for their wedding day!
Originally, Courtney + Will were planning a backyard wedding with their closest family and friends. As it turns out, Courtney found that renting all the necessities for an April backyard wedding would cost about the same amount as renting a venue with more amenities. So, they swapped plans and chose Events on 6th for their wedding day.
Events on 6th is a mainly indoor venue, making it perfect for their April wedding as it was drizzling that morning. Having never been to the venue before (we drive past it a lot though!) Jake and I scouted a bit and found the perfect spot for her wedding dress image. I fell in love with the stained glass in the balcony of the church, and Jake entertained my ideas for hanging it there.
Their ceremony was lovely, short and sweet. While some waited for the “April Fools” joke to pop, it never did and they really got married that day! I’m sure Courtney will have a ton of fun telling everyone “Nope. It wasn’t a joke. I really got married on April Fool’s Day” because that’s her personality.
The sun broke through for just a bit, giving us the perfect opportunity to head into the atrium for some snuggly couples’ photos (with her photobombing bro in the background of a few of them) and then outside the church for just a few minutes. After that, the celebration was on!
Drinks, delicious food and dancing pretty well sums up most of the weddings we photograph, and Courtney + Will’s was no exception. It was a wonderful, joy filled day and I look forward to watching all their life’s adventures.
