Brix on Main Open House: March 2024
It’s not an everyday thing that you get to watch industry friends of yours, take a giant leap of faith and succeed beyond reasonable expectation, but that’s exactly what we witnessed last year with our friends at Brix on Main. Courtney + Maggie found this beautiful space right on Main Street in Buckley, and took a leap to turn it into the gorgeous venue it is today.
Buckley’s Hottest New Venue
Brix on Main has quickly become Buckley’s hottest new venue with its vintage charm and downtown vibes (sans the parking fees and traffic of Tacoma!). It greets you as you turn down Main Street, and hosts up to 80 guests at any event. Brix features two beautiful getting ready rooms and a main venue area with plenty of space for farm tables, dancing and bistro seating. Whatever you fancy, they can make your dreams come true in their space.
We were thrilled when they asked us to join their Open House, and couldn’t wait to mix and mingle with the vendors and couples there. Afterall, we’ve photographed Santa, family sessions and boudoir in the space. It’s one of my favorite go-tos when clients ask for indoor sessions. Courtney + Maggie put together a stellar group for their open house and we loved getting the chance to chat with them.
The vendors that were gathered included three photographers, two DJs, one of our favorite coordinators, two awesome caterers, desserts, coffee and more! It was easy to walk through the doors and have your entire party planned within minutes. I’m so lucky to have met these wonderful people and cannot wait for this year’s wedding season!
The Incredible Vendors
Obviously, we were there as a husband + wife team, and had our newest featured coffee table album out on display. (If you haven’t heard about this album, check out the blog post here). We still have some Saturday availability in July, September and October this year, and a few Sundays between June and October (Loads of weekday availability too if you’re a rebel like us, who wants to get married on a Wednesday or Thursday).
Photography by Amazaday is one of my favorite people (I’m probably biased though because we share a birthday) and I love her classic fine art vibes. If you’re looking for an experience that feels reminiscent of the film days without the risk of 35mm or polaroid, she’s my top pick. Her detailed approach to posing and editing will leave you with those timeless portraits you dream of.
The Juliet is a wedding photography and videography team started by two beautiful moms. They strive to offer timeless images that never go out of style. Marissa + Chey are wonderful photographers who will showcase your love while their Videographer, Lindsay, creates a highlight video with all the best moments of your day.
Heartfelt Sentiment’s Sulee is an absolute doll. I loved her combination of creativity and natural elements in her table setup. Plus she’s extremely fun to chat with and a fellow Disney Nerd. She was originally a photographer and understands that even Day of Coordination packages should start way before the day of your wedding. She’s my kind of coordinator and I highly recommend her.
Mystik Music’s husband + wife duo, John and Melissa are always a dream to hang with. They’re extremely kind hearted people and love collaborating with other vendors! John showed me how to mix music like a pro DJ, but let’s be honest here: I’m never going to be able to use those skills (or likely remember what he showed me). His skill level is above most wedding DJs I’ve come across and he even built a new mini mix booth just for spaces like Brix on Main.
JCS Entertainment should really just be labeled “Jake’s Best Friend”. Jake and Jonathan both get excited when they see each other at open houses and it’s like they’re old friends. Jonathan and his wife, Jessica, are a fabulous husband + wife duo from Auburn. They’re extremely fun to be around and their fun loving antics will keep you entertained all night.
Bakers’ Dozen Catering is one of our FAVORITE caterers. Raquel + Todd actually catered Jake’s 10th-Sobriety Birthday for us back in 2022, and boy do they know how to feed a crowd. I think most of our guests ate for a week after the party. Raquel put together a gorgeous chocolate fountain spread and I love that she always accounts for the vendors at your event.
Crazy Taco is incredible Mexican food, and I’m pretty picky when it comes to my tacos. (Any taco is not a taco). Who knew watching Grandmas cook and working side by side with them would grow into a wonderful passion. You can find the Crazy Taco Truck in Bonney Lake (just off Sky Island Drive by Chevron), or you can trust me and order catering from them right away. Their street tacos with all the fixin’s hit the spot at the open house.
The Common Cookie was a new vendor for me, but I was extremely grateful for a gluten free goodie option! Tasha has taken gluten free baking to a whole new level. It’s hard to find good gluten free goodies, and most fall short of the perfect texture making them less than palatable. (Trust me, I’m fighting this battle in my own home right now). But Tasha’s gluten free cookies are delicious and don’t even need a glass of milk to wash them down.
Bringing in Fortitude Coffee Cart felt like it was a move JUST FOR ME! (I doubt that’s what Courtney + Maggie were going for, but I’m here for it!). There is nothing I want more than a wedding where the bar is actually a coffee cart serving locally roasted, handcrafted coffees. If you could snag some locally made coffee syrups (ask me where), I’d be in heaven! Fortitude Coffee cart had a fantastic arrangement of coffees to keep the pep in everyone’s step at the open house. I knew I had to try their Lavender Latte (because I’m bougie like that) and every sip was divine. It might actually put mine to shame, but I’ll never admit it. Haha!
Of course, it wouldn’t be an event if Party on the Rocks wasn’t at the bar! We love this whole crew and have had the honor of working with them at various events. They’re always game for a delicious drink or mocktail and we cannot wait to work with them again!
Megan Root Makeup is a glam artist and she really knows how to boost your natural features. We love getting to work with her at various weddings and appreciate that her skills don’t deviate from your natural beauty. Plus she’s an absolute sweetheart and knows how to keep her clients comfortable during their makeup application.
Hair by Marea Rayburn is a skilled hair stylist in Puyallup who has mastered the art of romantic waves. She also happens to be a killer hand model and is a wonderful personality! She put up with everything I asked her to do at the Open House without complaint.
In addition to being one of the trusty owners of Brix, Maggie runs Pop That Party Balloon Art and brings some pretty incredible balloon decorations to life. I was enthralled by her flower designs that popped up (pun intended obviously) at the Open house!
Of course, none of this would be possible without Courtney + Maggie at Brix on Main and they provided the venue, fabulous decor, photobooth and floral! Their venue offers the unique ability to personalize your event with a welcome sign, bar menu, etc. and they have a whole array of beautiful decor items to choose from. We truly love this venue and cannot wait to celebrate the gorgeous weddings they’ll have!
