Brides in Cowboy Boots | Mckenzie + Dustin at Brookstom Creek

When you’re choosing your wedding day kicks, it’s easy to fall for the sparkly, super spiky heels. But for Mckenzie, comfort was key and she went with an awesome pair of taupe cowboy boots. One would think that there would be more brides in cowboy boots at Brookstom Creek, but that’s surprisingly not the case. I loved the down home flare at Mckenzie and Dustin’s Brookstom Creek wedding, and felt like family from the moment I walked in.

High Style with Rustic Flare

It was hard not to fall for the sage and lavender coloring Mckenzie and Dustin used throughout their wedding day. Mckenzie’s bouquet was a beautiful mix of lavender roses and lambs ear (which is oddly one of my favorite fillers because of how soft it is). To say Dustin rocked this color combo (sage vest with a lavender tie) would be an understatement. It was the perfect romantic color combo for this rustic wedding.

I died a little at the cuteness when their Flower Girl and Ring Security showed up. Even though the little ones weren’t super sure about the crazy lady in the mask, they played along. Vivian was excellent at her flower girl gig, tossing just the perfect amount of flowers down the aisle. Rex, aka. Ring Security sure was a hit when he delivered the ring briefcase and posed before leaving the stage.

Lavender Sweets and Custom Treats

I’m seeing a trend in my favorite things, and the cake table is still winning almost every year. Mckenzie and Dustin’s lavender treat table is definitely a top contender for me. With a few of my favorite “old time” treats like purple sixlets and rock candy, the dessert table boasted a little something for everyone. Beautiful purple and white swirled suckers, sparkly jelly beans, lavender taffy and chocolate coins made the perfect selection on the table.

One of the bride’s siblings made the custom sugar cookies with the couple’s initials and sage or lavender frosting. The custom cake from Corina Bakery featured delicious chocolate cake with a hidden caramel center. The final touches were cupcakes in four flavors: Lemon, Chocolate, Vanilla and Carrot Cake.

From Besties to Cousins

Who knew that Anug introducing Mckenzie to her cousin, Dustin, she would end up ensuring her best friend will be around forever. It was plain to see that this crew is going to be friends for a long time. They all care a lot about each other, and when Dustin sent us over to photograph Jonny and his girlfriend, it started a trend of five minute couples sunset shoots. The unique perspective of getting one on one time with each couple was super fun, and a trend I hope to see at more intimate weddings.

The party continued with dancing and having a wonderful time. We were honored to have such a sweet crew to photograph and know they’ll have wonderful adventures ahead of them.
