Ashley + John | Best Western Silverdale Beachside Inn
Over the river and through the woods, to the Best Western Silverdale Beachside Inn. This beautiful color infused wedding was an honor to shoot, and one I’ll never forget! Everything from the handcrafted signs to the coordinated wedding party gifts was carefully curated by the bride and groom.
A Match Made in Heaven
Ashley and John met through John’s mom. Ashley was working with her and she insisted on introducing the two of them. Both school teachers, they bonded over their mutual passion for traveling and athletics. However, every pair has to have their differences and these two agree: John loves track while Ashley is an avid rower. I’m sure the competitive events at home are enthusiastic.
The BW Silverdale Beachside Inn
When it came to deciding on their wedding location, Ashley’s love of water was a strong point on the wishlist. The Best Western Silverdale Beachside Inn was perfect and these two fell madly in love with the super chic beachside hotel. Many of their guests came from out of town, so having the hotel right there was extremely convenient and necessary. It wasn’t long before their wedding day expanded into a relaxing wedding weekend.
She put love into everything, sticking close to her values. Bridesmaids gifts were from small artisans she found on Etsy and included custom water cups, wedding party robes, snacks and beautiful totes with each attendant’s name. Not only did these items support small businesses but she chose items her friends were likely to use long after the wedding ended! It’s a win-win if you ask me. A true creative at heart, Ashley took it upon herself to hand craft all of the signs for the reception venue. Her excellent penmanship had me convinced she’d hired an expensive calligrapher.
One important feature of Ashley and John’s wedding day was their use of color. Not only did they bring a happy mix of pastels to the day, but each color was used to keep track of who’s items belonged to whom, and helped keep the wedding party pairs together! Ashley used the colors to tie everything together, from their cake and cupcakes to their table decor and “mint-to-be” tictac favors (my favorite), nothing seemed out of place!
Literally heels over head in love
In true to me fashion, I will never forget this wedding day. Not only did they have the sweetest first look in the closed restaurant of the hotel, but we all had a good laugh when I fell off the foot stool during group shots. I’m terrible about remembering to bring my step stool so I have a tendency to stand on chairs and such. Of course, wouldn’t you know I’d stood on this SAME stool no less than three times before it went out from under me. But the laughs were definitely worth it!
It wouldn’t be a PNW wedding without some amazing seafood. I fell in love with their choice of halibut and chowder combined with the herb infused rolls. In an effort to make sure everyone was able to eat something, Ashley also chose salads to go with dinner and a delicious gluten free coconut cupcake to include in their dessert display.
Just when you thought the party would die down, guests stepped off to the side to play cornhole while the diverse selection of music played everything from country to oldies. The summer vibes were strong at the Best Western Silverdale Beachside Inn that night. Ashley and John’s open bar featured signature drinks to keep guests warm, along with their bonfire and smores bar for a pick me up between dancing. Guests continued to enjoy the playful reception while Ashley and John stole away to the honeymoon suite located in the hotel before heading off to their Hawaiian Honeymoon.
