Alisha + Josh | An Edgy Tacoma Elopement with Rock-n-Roll Style

I…. wanna rock-n-roll all night…

A little bit of Rock and a whole lotta roll…

We all need a little edgy rock in our lives. For Me, it’s a dull roar in the background that binds my personality together. Whether it’s rocking out to Poison’s “Talk Dirty to Me” or just tossing on a favorite pair of moto boots and jeans, I love me a good bit of rock-n-roll. Every styled shoot I’d done in the past year was elegant, colorful and a bit less than ideal for my eccentric and offbeat couples. Not a single one featured tattoos, DIY desserts or that bit of edge I craved to show. So I set out with a dream of something different.

Creating a perfect styled shoot

It started by looking for something more edgy than many of the styled shoots I’d seen recently. I love a good styled shoot to fill in the blank spaces of the winter months, but each one I came across held a hefty price tag and the restrictions on them didn’t sit well with me either. I started with the dress, one I happened to have purchased last summer for another shoot and ended up not using it. The shoes came from my closet and the couple was introduced to me through a mutual vendor-friend I had met the previous year through The Rising Tide Society and The Perpetual You.

A Match Made in Rock-n-Roll Heaven

Alisha & Josh were perfection. He had the hipster-spunk I was looking for, and she resembles a gorgeous tattooed mermaid. Together they completed my vision for this session and brought it to life with a love that runs incredibly deep. The time I spent with them was full of laughter, smiles and excitement. You’d never know the entire thing had been staged.

Tacoma Elopement Dreams coming true.

We started at the old Graffiti garage, which has since been closed down. Using the blank space and beautiful white brick walls, I was able to showcase the vintage and handmade details with a little bit of grunge. While many of the moments were staged, including the cake feed, the expressions and reactions were truly genuine. After sharing some delicious desserts picked up from a local bakery, we headed down to Pacific Avenue and a quiant hidden courtyard that offered some privacy to be silly together. It’s not every day you dance to no music… But these two did, and the love they shared shined through.
