A Rock-n-Roll Elopement Straight Out of a Rebel’s Dream | Alicia + Josh

🎶 I… wanna rock-n-roll all night… 🎶

A little bit of rock, a whole lotta roll—that’s the energy I wanted to bring to this styled elopement.

Let’s be real: We all need a little edgy rock in our lives. For me, it’s like a constant hum in the background, tying together my personality. Whether I’m belting out Talk Dirty to Me by Poison or throwing on my favorite moto boots and ripped jeans, there’s something about rock-n-roll that just feels right.

But every styled shoot I had done that year? Beautiful, yes. Elegant, colorful, even romantic. But missing that raw, untamed, rebellious vibe I knew my offbeat couples would love. Where were the tattoos, DIY desserts, and attitude?

That’s when I decided to create my own Rock-n-Roll Elopement—a shoot that screamed individuality, passion, and a little bit of controlled chaos.

The Vision: Creating the Perfect Rock-n-Roll Elopement

I wanted something edgier, something that stood out from the ultra-traditional styled shoots I had been seeing. While I love a good editorial shoot to stay creative during the slow winter months, I found that many styled shoots came with high price tags and restrictive guidelines. That didn’t sit well with me.

So I started with what I had:

  • The dress? A stunning black-and-white number I had purchased last summer but never got to use.
  • The shoes? Straight from my own closet, because nothing screams rock-n-roll like breaking the rules.
  • The couple? Alisha & Josh, introduced to me by a vendor friend I met through The Rising Tide Society and The Perpetual You.

They were perfect.

A Match Made in Rock-n-Roll Heaven

Alisha & Josh embodied the Rock-n-Roll Elopement dream. Josh had the hipster-meets-punk vibe I was looking for, and Alisha? A stunning tattooed mermaid of a bride with a fierce love for her man. Together, they weren’t just models for a styled shoot—they were real, raw, and completely in love.

From the moment we started shooting, the energy was electric. There was laughter, excitement, and an undeniable connection that made every staged moment feel 100% authentic. You’d never guess this was a styled shoot—because their love made it real.

Tacoma’s Edgy Backdrop for a Rock-n-Roll Elopement

We kicked off the shoot at the old Graffiti Garage in Tacoma (RIP, one of the coolest spots that’s since been shut down). The gritty, urban vibe of the white brick walls gave the perfect grunge-meets-romance aesthetic. With vintage details, handmade elements, and a little bit of rockstar attitude, the scene came together flawlessly.

After a few shots with DIY desserts from a local bakery (because cake always belongs at an elopement), we headed down to Pacific Avenue. Nestled away, we found a quaint hidden courtyard, the perfect spot for them to steal a few quiet moments together. And because no Rock-n-Roll Elopement is complete without a little rebellion? They danced to absolutely no music—just feeling the rhythm of their own love story.

That’s the kind of energy I love capturing. The moments that look planned but feel like they could only happen in that one perfect second.

Rock Your Own Elopement

A Rock-n-Roll Elopement isn’t just about looking cool—it’s about throwing out the rulebook and celebrating your love in a way that feels wildly you. Whether it’s graffiti walls, leather jackets, tattoos, or midnight pizza runs, your wedding day should be as rebellious and passionate as your love story.

And if you’re dreaming of an elopement with a little grit, a little glam, and a whole lot of rock-n-roll—I’m your girl. Let’s make some magic together.
